Top trainer, Franklin Antoian gives fitness tips to those struggling to workout. Don’t overwhelm yourself by trying to do too much too soon – just give yourself 10 minutes …. today!
Franklin is the founder of iBodyFit.com, which offers free and premium online workouts, exercise videos, yoga, pilates, Vlogs (video blogs), and more! He is an American Council on Exercise certified personal trainer, and fitness writer and expert for ManageMyLife.com. Franklin was also recently featured as one of SHAPE.com magazine’s “50 Hottest Trainers in America”!! He is another mover and shaker in today’s internet and social media driven fitness programs.
“I genuinely love getting people fit and healthy,” he says.
Franklin’s average client is probably from 30-50 years old, who has a family and has a full-time job, and will fly by and they either come to see him early in the morning or early in the evening, after or before their crazy heavy days and yet they still workout. Then again, there are always exceptions.
“My youngest client is 24,” he adds. “My oldest one is 94!”
Franklin’s approach to his own fitness goals is fairly simple. “My exercise program is kind of basic,” he explains. “For me, the basics are always what gets you fit. In other words, there’s a certain amount of time for me that you’re supposed to do your cardio training, your strength training and flexibility. And I stick to those guidelines along with a great nutrition plan and that works for me.”
Franklin’s recommendations for others wanting a varied but effective fitness regimen are equally basic: “For cardio training, it’s five days a week for a minimum of 30 minutes. For strength training, it’s a minimum of two times a week for about 30 minutes. And stretching is just pretty much every day.”
When it comes to obtaining a Better Body, Franklin’s philosophy is all-inclusive. “Fitness is for everybody,” he says, “not just for a certain amount of people. It’s for anybody. Not just for someone who’s trying to lose weight, but for whoever. You can gain effectively at muscle and strengthen your heart up at any age, whether old or young.”

Why do we often fall off the wagon on our path to a Better Body? Franklin has some specific thoughts about why people stop and start their weight loss, fitness and nutrition goals. “I think a lot of people fall off that wagon because they just go at too hard,” he explains.
Franklin makes such good points! Here are 4 of his Top 12 from Better Body Wannabe:
Fitness Tip #1: Give yourself 10 minutes.
Just ease into it; just try 10 minutes, that’s a good key number. Even if it’s just 10 minutes, it’s 100% more than what you were doing before. You’ll be so surprised, if you do a quick weight workout for 10 minutes, especially if you’ve done nothing in a year. But the difference that you’ll feel [is] your muscles will get stronger, [and] mentally you’ll feel great, because you’ve just worked out. [And soon] you’ll find yourself doing 10, 15, 20 minutes; the next thing you know, you’re working out an hour.
Fitness Tip #2: Get a workout program that’s going to fit for you.
You don’t want to try to do too much, especially in the beginning. People who tend to do that get burned out and then they just fall apart, they get unmotivated, they get injured, they get tired and just don’t want to go back.
Fitness Tip #3: Mix it up every three months.
If you just mix up your routine to get rid of any type of boredom, that’s probably a good thing. Because boredom is one of the top reasons that people fall out of their routines.
Fitness Tip #4: Take a “vacation” from exercise.
Give your body a break. When you come back, get a new routine and try that after a few months, and then at the end of another three months try another routine, so let’s go with boredom as an answer for that.
