Don’t spend money on expensive equipment, and stop torturing yourself with crazy diets. Here are three free, simple changes that will absolutely change your life faster than you’d ever imagine!
Change Your Body, Change Your Life
1. Drink water. Most people are dehydrated. Hate water? Discipline yourself to drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water (plus what you need for working out). Set out the water in the morning, and identify target times to chug it all down 12 ounces at a time. You may hate every second of it — but I guarantee that you won’t for long. Within 3 days, you will crave that water, and within 7 days, you will be a water drinker. Within 7 days, you will have more energy, you’ll eat less — by choice, your skin will be nicer, and you will find that your headaches will get fewer and farther between.
2. Use smaller plates. As you eat better, you want to be happy you’re doing it. Part of that involves reminding yourself that you are not withholding food from yourself; you’re just eating the right amount. When you dish up on a small plate, that plat looks full with a more appropriate serving. If you eat from a full plate, you feel like you are indulging. Treat yourself — eat from a full plate.
3. Play. When I think of a “skinny, hot chick,” I think of someone who is moving around. When I envision hot girls, they don’t sit at the computer or watch TV for hours. They are moving, walking, running on the beach, and walking down the street at a strong pace, with their heads held high. Ok, so, now back to reality. Normal people are tired, need a break from stress, and work hard so we need to rest. That is the story we tell ourselves, anyway. And what has it gotten us? Fat. Some of us have also forgotten to have fun and play. What are 3 or 4 sports or activities (like walking the dog, playing frisbee, flying a kite, shooting hoops, or taking a bike ride with the kids) that you enjoy, that are things that add to your life beyond the workout? Plan one of those activities every day, and it will transform your opinion of working out.
